Johnson Controls Announces iSTAR Ultra G2 SE, an Expansion of the iSTAR Ultra G2 Series

(MILWAUKEE, March 17, 2022)Johnson Controls, the global leader in smart, healthy, and sustainable buildings, announced a new generation of iSTAR door controllers designed with cyber resiliency in mind, providing customers with faster processing power, advanced enterprise functionality and the building blocks needed for future expansion.

“The addition of the iSTAR Ultra G2 lineup expanded our portfolio of door controllers to include one of the most expandable solutions available in the market,” said Rick Focke, director of Product Management, Enterprise Access Control, Security Products, Johnson Controls. “We are excited to continue to grow this line as well with the coming iSTAR Ultra G2 SE door controller.”

The iSTAR Ultra G2 SE provides a direct upgrade path from the iSTAR Pro and offers the same powerful feature set as the rest of the Ultra G2 series, but in a smaller form factor.

The iSTAR Ultra G2 series is ideal for mid-size to large scale deployments in higher education, healthcare, government, data center, industrial and manufacturing facilities. The series offers highly flexible door controllers, supporting both wired and wireless locksets, with expanded memory capacity to ensure the device grows with customer needs.

Additional features include:
  • CPU 1.2 GHz for faster processing, more memory and transactions as well as a larger card holder database
  • Backwards compatibility with C·Cure 9000 version 2.5
  • Powerful Linux controller for continued user confidence
  • Upgraded to PoE++ to allow for more power
  • Offers OSDP 2.2 support, the newest security standard
  • Enables advanced hardware-based cybersecurity using Trusted Execution Environment (TEE)- enhanced security: secure boot, update and manufacture
  • Dual GigE network ports using TLS 1.3 network authentication and cluster-based anti-passback provides the power to handle the most demanding access control applications.

iSTAR Ultra has been built using the Johnson Controls ISASecure® certified development process in accordance with the ISA/IEC 62443 control systems security standard and includes a back-up communication path in the event of a primary network failure to eliminate system downtime.

The iSTAR Ultra G2 SE will launch later this year and can be experienced at ISC West 2022, the International Security Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.  For more information on iSTAR G2, visit www.swhouse.com.
