Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)

As a tamper-resistant biometric credential, a TWIC will be issued to an anticipated 1 million workers to prevent unauthorized personnel from gaining access to a secure area of a vessel or facility. Both the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) published the TWIC rules. TSA enrolls TWIC applicants and performs the security threat assessments (STA) while the USCG enforces the TWIC program as an access control measure. Learn more about the TWIC program below.
